Brief Area History:

As most communities in the area were created in part by the railroads and a need for logging in the 1800s, Trego is no exception. With it's roots in contributing to building and heating materials, the area is now popular for recreational activities. People from all around come to this area for fishing the more than 900 lakes, or hunting in the wilderness, or the unique restaurants and tourist attractions, and anyone looking for the peace and quiet of northern Wisconsin. Even durring the cold winters, snowmobilers, skiers, ice fishermen and hockey players are drawn in to the simplicity of the area.
